Today, after work, I did something I haven’t done in quite some time. I stopped at Starbucks, sat outside, sipped my coffee and simply enjoyed the weather. I call it a stolen moment but it feels more like a guilty pleasure. Me, alone in the sun. Not sharing it with anyone. There were no pressing engagements, no homework assignments due and no phone calls to make.
For a moment I did what everyone else does. Pick up my phone out of mere discomfort to at least look preoccupied… But then I put the phone away, grabbed my tablet and began reading. Updates on Google+, articles posted on Zite and Oxygen Magazine. It’s who I am… A reader. So it wasn’t hiding but me simply being me, in the sun on a wonderful Friday afternoon. How was your day? Do share!
Good on you, I say, “buying” yourself that moment’s respite.
It is just so fascinating that I was at a Starbucks on Friday for my lunch (during work time). But my Starbucks was in Melbourne Australia and yours is way over there. So bizarrely connected, apart and beyond. I don’t know, pardon me, it just sort of fascinates.
But yes! Good on you for taking time, breathing, pausing, in this world which – if you didn’t do that, it would drive you.
I see the connection and think it’s wonderful! We must do it again some time!
Ahh yes I love those stolen moments!
